How it began. Where we are today.

It all began in January 2000 when two brothers decided to open a business together.  One brother was a well-known Aircraft Broker, the other a renowned Internet Communications expert. Together they were sales & marketing.

Combining their expertise, they realized a market need that had no solution.
 
That need was…They couldn’t find a place to do an inspection on a certain aircraft, within 500 miles.  They couldn’t find an answer on the internet, and they didn’t know enough people to ask, so they called the manufacturer to find out who could help. After several frustrating days of searching for the answer, the Internet brother asked, 

“How come I can’t find this stuff on the Internet! I should be able to go to a site with a directory and choose a vendor to suite my needs.” 

And so, the solution was born. The two created an aviation directory website that would provide a list of vendors within a range AND the ability to add keywords about their specialty. 

Since the brother was used to information being free on the internet, he wanted to make sure vendors had the ability to add their names to the directory for free as well. He had been to several sites where only paid advertisers or favorites were listed…so he never knew the full extent of the vendors available to him.

The two brothers no longer work together.  One died in a small aircraft accident over the Gulf of Mexico and the other went to follow his brother’s footsteps to become a well known Aircraft Broker.

We’ve been through several generations of this website and feel this new site is exactly what we envisioned.  A directory that is user-driven and user-created.  We hope the aviation community embraces our new site and it becomes a valuable tool for pilots and aviation professionals.

NOTEWORTHY: most directories in the industry only publish businesses that pay to be listed, or are favored by the publisher – AircraftMarketPlace is different. We list anyone who wants to be in our directory (that agrees to our terms). AircraftMarketPlace will even publish the names of our competitors, because we believe in free trade and the values of free access to information in aviation.
