A generation ago, there was a breed of men known as fighter pilots. The aircraft they flew were as legendary as those who dueled in the sky, escorting bombers, attacking rail yards, and displaying chivalry in their silver armored fighters.

Today’s military aircraft are powered by turbine engines, advanced avionics, and materials which continue the tradition of American air superiority. Somewhere, lost along the way was the intimate, seat of the pants flying which the fighter pilot once excelled at.

The Turbine Thunder Mustang, a creation by Paul Kirch, combines the superior engine, materials, and avionics technology of today with the legendary P-51 Mustang. The aircraft that reigned supreme over Europe is now available refitted in the most advanced technology.

In low level flight below 10,000 feet, the Turbine Thunder Mustang is superior to the original.
While guns and bombs have to stay in your hangar, this aircraft can do anything you ask of it –with one exception, it’s Vne (never exceed speed) is 505 miles per hour.

Our recently built P-51 Mustang is in every way “like new” condition. With 75 flight hours it has met the initial certification test period with additional hours of demonstration and flight testing. It has been treated with care and flown with precision by a retired airline Captain with 30+ years experience flying everything from the bush in Alaska to the heavy iron of the Airlines. By far his favorite ride has been the Long Nosed P-51 Mustang, and surely will be yours as well.

DerManDar – A Stretch on Aerial Photography

	Dermandar: A Stretch on Aerial Photography
	By David Leiter, I’m sure many of you aviation fanatics out there are just like me, looking for the best aviation apps to download to your smart phones and tablets. Occasionally, you come across an app that is just as functional as it is fun. That’s what I’ve discovered about DerManDar, the app which automatically lines up your camera phone to take panoramic pictures all the way around to 360 degrees. Although not specifically for aviation, you can use it while your flying or just walking around the airport. With a unique yin and yang markers that line up each photo you’ll be taking incredible photos in no time. Press the shutter button to take the initial picture. Once taken, move the phone horizontally in either direction. Line up the yin and yang symbols and the app automatically takes the next picture. Continue the process for 12 pictures and you’ll have a perfect 360 degree panoramic shot for any location. You’re probably wondering how do I know when to stop spinning around, we’ll the folks at DerManDar thought of that too. A white circle inside the yin and yang symbol fills with green as you complete the rotation. Once you’ve made completed your circle the process is done. If you want less than 360 degrees just lower the phone and it automatically create the photo for you. As you can see below it even works well even in motion with the aircraft. Now that it’s on your phone, you have the option of uploading it to DerManDar.com, sharing it on Facebook or sending it in an e-mail. Although not always perfect, at least not without a tripod…but who caries a tripod around to take photos with their phone…not me. The program sometimes cuts off parts that should be aligned. The process can be extremely apparent when horizontal lines are slightly off. Overall, I really enjoy this app and for the price you can’t beat it.
