Below is the link to an excellent letter addressing the drubbing that our industry has taken over the last few months. Congress seems bent on crushing general aviation through misquotes and misunderstandings printed in the media. We need to let the media and our congressmen/women know that our business is just as vital to the economy of the US and the world for that matter as GM, Chrysler, AIG and the rest.If we don’t speak up, I fear there will be a ground swell of “anti-private aircraft” rhetoric that could permanently damage our industry. Nice to finally see an article written that truly addresses what aviation can do for the business community (regardless of the magnitude of plane). What a difference I feel when I show up to a meeting energized by flying a plane (I might have a 5-7 hour drive otherwise). If I didn’t have the choice, I’d be exhasted by the drive but instead I’m intensely focused because I’ve flown. Sure beats sitting in an airport while staring at other bored business travellers too!
